Things I’ve been loving

– the beautiful fall weather, albeit it’s the st. louis weather is kinda crazy and unpredictable. The leaves make me ridiculously happy. I love it when seasons change. I get way too excited πŸ™‚

– related to the above: wearing knee socks, tights, boots and scarves!

– Canon S95: it’s love at first sight, there’s no other way to describe it. It’s just…ridiculously awesome. I love it.

– Law school: it’s a love and hate relationship. I love it when I get all excited calculating damages and discussing Coase theorem, and finding the common ground between torts, contract, and property. I hate it when I get only 5 hours of sleep thanks to a memo. But I also love making the arguments for the memo. I just hate writing it. See my point?

– (almost) Fall break…need I say more?!

– my new hot drink maker: hello frothy hot cocao, mocha, and caramel apple cidar πŸ˜€

– Bailey’s Chocolate Bar: every time i go to that place I feel like I died and went to chocolate heaven.

– new make up (urban decay eye shadow and eye liners) and new jeans (Express still fits me like oh-so-perfectly)

– friends. enough said ❀

Caught in a(nother) bout of nostalgia

I miss New York, London, and Duke. Sometimes I miss these places so much it almost hurts, and I can’t help it.

St. Louis simply does not compare to New York. The vivacity of that city is so hard to leave behind. I miss the nights spent on Times Square, the afternoons strolling down Broadway, and even all the times I got terribly lost in the city.

And London…I would love to live there again in the future. Not as a poor student, but with a full time job and hopefully a nice income. I miss the beautiful buildings, the history at every corner, the magnificent museums, and the perfect lounges that serve the most delightful cocktails.

Duke. I had no idea I would miss Duke this much. I never realized how spoiled I have been for the past four years. And every email I see an email from a Duke listserve, I inevitably feel a slight twinge in my chest.

I never expected to miss any of these places…but I do terribly so.

Week 1 of 1L

There is no question that it was a long week, but now that it’s Friday it seems that it has gone by rather fabulously. This is mostly likely a combination of the fact that it’s friday (finally!) and my tendency to color my memories in a way that tends to make them rosier than they actually were. So to recap…

I love my professors, for the most part. My contract professor was the first one that I had heard about, due to his Economic background, and I was ecstatic when I found out that I was in his class. So far, he’s living up to my expectations: he’s a total econ dork πŸ™‚ To my delight (and some of my classmates’ frustration, I’m sure), his lectures are full of allusions to economic concepts and jargons. In addition, he’s also funny and incredibly laid back. My torts professor is closer to what you would expect from a law school professor; incredibly smart, a little patronizing (but only in the most helpful manner, of course), and overall a very caring, nice teacher. The instructors for Legal Practice and Legal Research also seem incredibly help Β and nice. My LP professor even gave us “entertainment tips” for the weekend, like the Japanese festival at the botanical garden. How cute is that? The only professor that I’m still not sure about is the one for Property. Judging by the subject, I should like it…but I’ve only had the class one thus far, so we shall see what happens next week.

Meanwhile, I’ve made and stuck to a rather nice routine. I get up at 8, get to school at 9, and stay in the library after classes until around 6pm. After that I’m usually hungry and tired and either make dinner or eat out with friends and spend a couple of hours to rewind on the couch :). I don’t expect this leisurely schedule to last much longer, but so far I like it a lot. It’s pretty much like having a full time job; busy enough that I’m not bored and I always have something to do (except now since my professors haven’t posted the assignments for next week yet 😑 ), but not so busy that I don’t get enough sleep (like orientation week >.<).

All in all, I’m loving law school. Heading to the Anheuser Busch Budweiser Factory this afternoon because we finally have “california weather.”

Oh, and yay for 3-day weekend! Happy Labor Day πŸ˜€

desperately in need of a schedule/routine

I can’t believe how little I’ve done in the past two days. This is what happens when I don’t have school, work, or friends to meet up with. I turn into a hopeless couch potato and watch way too many youtube videos. So, in an attempt to get out of this slump and actually get some stuff done…I’m making a pledge to do the following tomorrow:

  1. laundry
  2. cleaning the apartment: floor & bathroom
  3. get the UPass (maybe)
  4. finish unpacking my clothes
  5. start drawing (yay for new art supplies!!)
  6. take photos for my beauty blog

Let’s see how many of these I can get accomplished tomorrow. I feel like I should create some sort of extra incentive for myself, like maybe a present of some sort? (Yes, I know I’m ridiculous…how do I gift myself o_O?!)
