I’m the creator of Chiaroscuro, where I write about an array of topics, ranging from philosophy and psychology to fashion and food. Underlying all my interests is my passion for understanding people and how they live. I’m fascinated by the beauty and connections found in everyday life, and my goal is to highlight and share them in personal and meaningful ways.

Best birthday ever 🙂

Han came over with roses, wine, and strawberries before midnight, and then spent the next 24 hours with me. We had brunch at WaDuke, went shopping, finished a movie, had dinner at Kanki, and he was going to make dessert for me but dinner made me too full so it’ll wait until later.

If only the weather was better; what’s w/ all the rain this year??

Oh, registration…

No pictures :(

Because like I said in my last post, I’m painfully careless, and I lost my camera. Yeah. I’m still mourning for it’s loss *tears*.

Besides losing my $450+ camera, spring break has been good thus far. Th weather is beautiful here in Atlanta (and in Durham, according to Weather.com, but that’s not the point). Living on a no schedule schedule is a fantastic revisit of winter break. I’ve been cooking every day and I actually really enjoy it. Especially when the food doesn’t disappoint me 🙂

I got to see old friends and even old teachers, which was so much fun, minus the driving. Speaking of which, driving on I-85 in downtown Atlanta scares the living bejesus out of me. Went to the theatre, saw the first hour of Watchman, and then saw Confessions of a Shopaholic, which was so much fun, seriously. Such a girly movie, like “Prada” XD.

Can’t believe there’s only 1.5  months left of school ._. and then I’m officially a senior. And then LSAT, and then law school apps, and then omg I’m graduating. The thought of graduation is so…scary and exciting. Being out there on my own, filling out my own tax forms, getting my own insurance, and just basically…living on my own. Terrifying >.< But I guess I have to grow up eventually >_>

Painfully careless

So I missed a grand slam by one stupid move least week. Today I lost at least half an hour on the test because I failed to see one premise on a proof. With that extra half hour I could checked for mistakes and did the bonus (which i did after I got back, took me only 10min, or less). Waahh. I hate being careless >.<

ALSO, I lost like 15 points on my game theory test because of a careless mistake as well. Even BETTER, i had the right answer first and I have no idea what possessed me to change it to some absurdly wrong answer >_>.

Pangaea, etc.

Only in Duke do we study and have cocktail parties at the same place. The Library Party tradition started when I was a freshman, and I must say, each year it keeps getting better. I still have numerous pictures of the freshman me attending the very first party at Bostock; I wonder how they will compare to the ones I took yesterday.

For the first time, I actually attended the party without also bringing one of those huge yearbook cameras. So instead, I aimed endlessly through the various rooms and themes with my Canon G9. Taking pictures that are ultra-grainy because I refuse to use flash and running into the same people at again and again. The music was wonderful, the food always always gone too soon, and the crowd steadily gets denser and denser until the Link becomes postively stiffling and I find myself walking sideways like a crab. Overall, it was a blast. It was great seeing people that I haven’t seen in ages (or months) and catching up with friends in general. Although this year was also the first that I did not see our beloved President Brodhead in attendance. Did I miss him?

While some might have gone to nineth street for after parties, a few of my friends and I had a two hour bridge session in the common room. It was loads of fun, but let me tell you, missing a grand slam because of one stupid move (even after you have carefully thought out the entire process, card by card, correctly in your head but still drew the wrong card for some inexplicable, infuriating reason) is beyond painful. Never again shall I make such a stupid, inexusable move, and let a beautiful grand slam just slip out of my hands like that. Never.
