labor day weekend

i like how my meeting with the pre-law dean was canceled due to the holiday, but my class isn’t. poo.

on another note, i went to southpoint, and fell in love with a couple of beautiful things:

my two fav. scents in one!

so pretty...

so pretty...

so much fun to play with

so much fun to play with

now i just have to find a job so I get my hands on these 😀

high on caffeine

thursdays are usually my worst days. i leave before 10am and I don’t get back until after 7 (7:30 today). but, thanks to a medium sized ice coffee from McDonald’s this afternoon, i feel absolutely exuberant, in love with my classes (which will only last until this weekend, when I realize how much work i have…), and generally glowing about the state of my life. the only conclusion? I must be high from caffeine.

oh, i also couldn’t shut up for an hour or so (worst case in i dunno how long). unbelievable. BUT I’m finally off to seeing time traveler’s wife, so I have to stop blabbing here and actually go wash the dishes before i run out.

yaaaaay for being in college :D. boo for being a senior 😦

burried under work

it’s only been a week, and I find myself utterly exhausted by the end of thursday. so i spent the entire friday sleeping and recharging. now i’m back to scrambling to finish the pile of homework that somehow has already become astronomical after just four days of classes. wtf. the only relief? pandora, proximity of healthy food (my kitchen!), roommate, friends (that I sadly only see in classes and passing by on campus), han, calls to my parents, and the occasional internet distractions. I haven’t been on NYTimes or reading the chronicle. I need to change that.

FDOC

was awesome 🙂 Woke up early but slept in for a little longer. Talked to the Dean about waivering the writing requirement, didnt quite succeed, but it was nevertheless helpful. Then went to classes: they were AMAZING!! Well, classical studies was kinda amusing, it was so abviously an easy A class filled with sorority girls XD. Renaissance history class, on the other hand, was phenomenal. I loved every minute of it, and I feel like I already learned quite a bit from the first class! Both professors seemed really nice, too 🙂 It’s unfortunate that I don’t think I’ll be able to take both 😦 Hopefully I will get the writing credits for both semesters of research independent studies, and then I’ll just frop classical studies. Although the history course technically has the W code, but somehow the professor said it didn’t when I asked, quite definitively too. Maybe there’s a mistake, I kind of hope the registrar will just stick with it, and I get a W out of it *crosses my fingers*.

The ForeverDuke party was pretty nice. Thank God it wasn’t just burgers, and I actually had enough food to fill me up 😀 plus the awesome beer stein and free calendars (even though they are 2009, and there’s like 4 months left O_O). It was also nice running into familiar faces, mostly seniors. Man, I still can’t believe I’m among the oldest on campus. Feels so…strange and surreal. Although I totally emphathize the the previous seniors and their sentiments of not wanting to leave. Every corner of the campus seems especially precious now, the feelings provide such a sharp contrast to my feelings of blase during sophomroe year. I still remember thinking how tiresome the campus had become and the only thing that really mattered to me was how to salvage my pathetic GPA. This year is going to go by faster than any others, because it’s the last, because I’ll be unbelievably busy, and because I don’t really want it to end.

Tomorrow is golf and econ, maybe chinese too. Hopefully I get a ride to the Washington Duke Inn >.<

new apt, new school year

moved in yesterday. mom just left 😦 now i’m all alone in a big, and rather empty apartment. our living room still produces an extraordinary amount of echo; it’s prob. going to stay that way until we put some stuff on the wall. my room is roomy but cozy. my only complaint: total lack of sound-proofing. the walls are paper thin and I hear things from all around me, in and out of the apartment, and especially when the guys upstairs walk >.< I wish I could 100% soundproof my room with those awesome sheets of glass or plastic or whatever material that works.

plans for the rest of the day:

  • get more sleep and eat
  • head over to GEO
  • unpack/organize
  • meet up w/ friends, maybe??
