I’m the creator of Chiaroscuro, where I write about an array of topics, ranging from philosophy and psychology to fashion and food. Underlying all my interests is my passion for understanding people and how they live. I’m fascinated by the beauty and connections found in everyday life, and my goal is to highlight and share them in personal and meaningful ways.

gone are the days of sundresses

the heat in the apartment has officially been turned on and I’m contemplating bringing out my cold clothes, finally. i’ve waiting for the fall to come for a while, but I can’t say I was thrilled when the temperature suddenly dropped 30 degrees in one day. next week is looking to be a better one, and mom’s visiting!

It’s amazing how slow time can go when you are waiting. I swear I thought it was thursday on tuesday T_T. Now that it’s friday, I’m just getting even more jittery. Of course, I should probably just go preoccupy myself with work, because god knows I have lots of that (a paper, a midterm, projects, thesis, and apps >.<). except all I want to do is play with my new goodies from sephora -_-.

Nasher was fun, though I was slightly surprised how low the turn-out was. Maybe it’s a bad time in the semester (midterms?), or maybe the weather deterred everyone (but what about yule ball and viennese?). It’s probably just a lack of advertisement. but the food was good, and picaso was…interesting. I honestly find modern art a bit…exhausting to appreciate. I guess I’m just not used to it. It didn’t help that I had to leave a third way into the gallery >_>

ok, off to shower, lunch, then work.

attack of the squirrels

i don’t know about you, but I never thought these things were capable of making any sounds. but I guess I was enlightened this early morning by one creepy squirrel screeching like a banshee on my windowsill. it was definitely not my preferred choice of waking up on a day that I don’t have classes (or ever). this also happened to be an extremely stubborn squirrel, mind you. it simply refused to budge even though I kept hitting on the window, and it just kept making that ridiculous noise that I thought only belonged in sci-fi/horror movies….

ten hours later, when I returned to my apt., I see two bushy tails sticking out of the drain pipe. and as I’m typing this entry, a squirrel is climbing up and down my freakin’ window. I’m officially creeped out by squirrels for the rest of my life.

if you are laughing, I don’t blame you. I would too, if this weren’t my apartment.

i <3 chuck bass

He’s so unbelievably amazing. I def. melted…majorly during his “I’m Chuck Bass” speech:

Blair: Chuck, NYU is not the Upper East Side. They don’t care about Constance, or social hierarchy. They don’t care that I’m BlairWaldorf! It’s over.
Chuck: How can you do this to me?
Blair: What are you talking about?
Chuck: I’m Chuck Bass. And I told you I love you. You’re saying I’m easier to win over than a bunch of pseudo-intellectual homesick malcontents. You really insult me like that?
Blair: That’s not how it is.
Chuck: It’s exactly how it is. The next time you forget you’re Blair Waldorf, remember I’mChuck Bass. And I love you.

hooked on garance dore

this is an awesome blog. love the illustrations, the photos, and the texts, of course. just though I’d share it here b/c I’m bubbling with the excitement from discovering this!

oh, I wish I could look as good in red lipstick as I do in red nail polish. everytime i tried, and trust me I’ve tried a couple of times, I just end up looking freakishly scary. maybe I’m doomed to a neutral/peachy color as far as lip colors go :\
